Aaron Root is a designer based in Sydney.

He is VP of Design at Nearmap, where he joined as the solo designer in 2019. Nearmap builds a living model of the world from aerial imagery, material samples, and the patterns they reveal. His work focuses on helping people understand that model and make better decisions.

This site is a journal of design, computation, orientation, and cognition. It follows one question: how does the design of our instruments change what people can see, think, and do?

He lives near the ocean with his wife Lauren and their son Edward.
